Summer Ministry Initiative shares the NAIM/FNP vision of recruiting and enlisting Native people into the missionary work force to reach Native communities and beyond for Christ. We believe part of this vision can take place through SMI.
That being said, whether you are college-aged or later in life, Native or non-Native, seeking long-term ministry or simply wanting to check it out for a summer... as long as you love Jesus, have a willing heart, and carry a servant-spirit, we invite you to join us!
Why SMI?
SMI serves as a gateway towards viable long-term ministry in Native communities. The two month summer program provides ministry experience, with training and supervision.
Real People = Real Ministry
Your team will be placed in a Native community, and you will learn dependence on the Lord and each other.
Solid Training
SMI begins with five days of orientation, which include workshops on evangelism, local context, team relationships, and other key topics. We provide you with practical tools to use throughout the summer so your ministry can thrive. Every ministry team is also supervised regularly, and will meet once with other teams to share stories and ideas.
Build Relationships
Your ministry focus will be to build relationships and seek to share with others your personal experience with Christ. Relational ministry is at the heart of NAIM’s approach.
SMI 2011
SMI 2012 is taking place in Northern Saskatchewan. We've got great plans lined up, and can't wait to see how God will move! Find out more...
